Commentary on my Abstract Paintings by Curator Sue Steel of the Mythos Gallery in Berkeley:
"Peter Scaturro's abstract paintings in watercolor achieve a stunning brilliance of color and light combined with a sharp clarity of form that give the viewer the feeling of looking through medieval stained glass. The impact is highly effective in creating a sense of the mystery of a spiritual reality beyond, as well as a powerful delineation of the structured world we live in.
Commentary of my work by Dr.Peter Selz and Dewitt Cheng;
" Peter Scaturro's recent watercolors, the UNKNOWING Series (2014-15) and the PRESENCE Series (2012-15) are very large watercolors. Art Critic Dewitt Cheng has posted on Facebook; “…Scaturro’s…. watercolors have the intensity and weight of oils; great color harmony and rhythm too….”. These Expressionist abstractions were produced with spontaneous painterly energy and make us think of the Abstract Expressionist canvases created by Kandinsky a hundred years ago, and pursued in the "all-over" compositions by the American post-War painters, who, as the critic Harold Rosenberg pronounced, used their canvases (or paper) as an "arena in which to act". Similarly, but with a 21st Century outlook, Scaturro produces pictures which suggest luminous organic forms, done with pulsating colors." Peter Selz Ph.D.

Donald Kuspit ,Professor of Art History and Philosophy at University of New York , Stony Brook and renown American Art Critic emailed me about Presence 22 (Sold) watercolor:
"Peter, Presence 22 is more 'realized', stronger and subtler( then earlier painting 'Presence 16'). Indeed a 'projective' presence. First rate work. All the best, Donald Kuspit 2014
Critque by Triton Museum of Art, Chief Curator - October 2012
"Looking at these two works ( Presence 15 - watercolor and Offering 1 - sculpture) I experience a rare feeling whenever an artist sends two diffeerent works in different media. It is rare when the artists intent, idea, and handling, It is rare when the artist's intent, idea, and handling, and most of the harmony of all of this comes together and works fluidly. In this case they share the same fingerprints of the artist without sacrificing the strength and feeling you are trying to express. In each work they hold their own very uniquely and strongly, yet they are connected to the same direction of the idea.They both work together or separately and the message is the same. What is there for me is a fresh fluid experience of movement, depth, atmosphere which all translate to an engaging feeling, mood and atmosphere." George Rivera
